Abstract

559,501. Control of motors. WOODHOUSE & MITCHELL, Ltd., and WALKER, D. Oct. 1, 1942, No. 13758. [Class 38 (iii)] [Also in.Group XXIV] The change-gear lever of a machine tool is arranged so that the electric motor driving the machine must be switched " off " whilst the gear is being changed. The gear change is effected by a lever a moving in a gate about an axis c to .shift gears e and about an axis b to shift gears m through the medium of a ball f, slide g, rod h, crank i, and shaft j. Before the lever a can be moved, a locking-collar r' having a pin engaging a hole in the gate has to be forced towards the right against a spring s by means of a push button r' and rod r. During this movement, the right hand end of the rod r engages a switch p and opens the circuit of the motor.
