Abstract
559,056. Transmitting mechanical power. LIEBRECHT, H. F. June 23, 1942, No. 8601. [Class 38 (iv)] A variable speed gearing controlled by a dynamo O and motor U differentially connected with the prime mover and the outgoing shaft, as described in Specification 541,105 for example, and in which speed control is effected by altering the excitation of the dynamo, has, in addition to a separately excited field winding Q winding M which can be connected in circuit with the dynamo at will either to assist the separate excitation (to give a constant speed ratio) or to oppose it (to obtain constant power output). The switching means may be arranged to bring the winding into action progressively. The additional winding may be in shunt or in series with the dynamo.
