Abstract
558,930. Bells; hooters. DAVIS & SON (DERBY), Ltd., J., and DAWSON, C. Oct. 29, 1942, No. 15173. [Class 13] A solenoid-operated bell, hooter, or buzzer has a permanent magnet d incorporated at one end of the solenoid e so arranged that its flux aids and opposes the flux due to successive alterations of the operating alternating current, thus operating the plunger j with added strength but at a reduced frequency. The plunger is balanced between a pair of opposing springs o, s mounted on opposite sides of an adjustable collar r secured to the plunger. The magnet d, iron plate g and solenoid e are secured by bolts passing through holes in a bracket c and a bridge piece u carrying a plug t in which spring s is mounted. A condenser w is mounted as shown. The member k may strike a gong m, as shown, or may strike or be attached to a diaphragm.
