Abstract
558,920. Separating solid materials. BERRISFORD, Ltd., W. H., and BERRISFORD, W. H: July 22, 1942, No. 10268. [Class 117] [Also in Group XXX] In apparatus for cleaning coal of the kind in which the coal is dropped on a sloping plate 2 of glass &c., as described in Specifications 265,341, 271,633, and 3215,284, [all in Class 117], the coal is fed by a jigger 8 on to a stationary plate 26 pivoted at its end adjacent the jigger and resting at its forward end on a plate 18 which moves with the jigger. Preferably a pad 29 is secured to the underside of the plate 26, and the plate 18 is curved concentrically with a pivot bolt 14 on which it is swung by arms 17 adjustably secured to stationary supports 12. Movement is imparted to the plate 18 from the jigger by means of adjustable links 19 which are attached to the arms 17 at variable points between the pivots and the plate. The plate may be flat and have a movement in its own plane. The sloping plate 2 is pivotally mounted at 3 and its inclination is adjusted by a cam 4. A jet of air from a nozzle 7 keeps the plate free from dirt. Specifications 558,918 and 558,919 are referred to.
