Abstract
523,150. Copy-holders. MORRIS, J. H. Dec. 28, 1938, No. 31402. [Class 100 (iii)] In a reading-stand for typists and other machine operators, a book-rest 3, Fig. 1, is carried by an upright arm 6, which is pivotally secured at its lower end to the back of the machine, and stops are provided to limit the pivotal movement, so that the book-rest can be moved from a position over the machine for use to a point beyond the back thereof. The device may be secured to the typewriter by clamping members 12, 13, which are drawn together by a bolt 17, and carry stops 27, which may be adjustable in position, for limiting the pivotal movement of the arm 6. The arm may be pivoted in a recess in a rod 24, Fig. 5, projecting from a plate 22, which is screwed to the typewriter, the walls of the recess serving as limiting-stops. The book-rest may be adjustably pivoted to bent arms which are curved towards the front of the machine, and are directly pivoted to the machine at their lower ends. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 286,660, [Class 100 (iii)].
