558,705. Pipe couplings. BRUNO PATENTS, Inc. July 6, 1942, Nos. 9354 and 9355. Convention dates Sept. 3, 1941, and Jan. 3, 1942. [Class 99 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A swivelling coupling for the supply of a gas and electricity to a rotatable structure such as the turret of an aeroplane comprises a stationary tube 2 connected to an oxygen or other gas supply 4 and mounted on a panel 1, stationary electric contact rings 5 surrounding the tube and being each connected to a soldering lug 10 for connection to the supply cable. Within the tube 2 is rotatably mounted a tube 12 that carries an annular body 15 within which are mounted spring contacts 17 that press on the rings 5 and are each connected to a contact plug 16 forming part of a disconnectible coupling. The other part of the coupling comprises sockets 16a, carried by a body 20 mounted on a tube 23 which has a disconnectible joint 25 with the tube 12 and is enclosed by a housing 29 forming part of the rotatable structure. The coupling is locked by a screw ring 28 and the cable 22 and pipe 24 are clamped by a screw 48 in the flattened end of the housing. Where exceptional expansion has to be allowed for. the ends of the contacting parts of the tubes 2, 12 are coned together and a packing ring located in recesses in the ends of the tubes 2, 12 under the nut 13 so as to be pressed home by the gas pressure.
