Abstract

1302428 Electric couplings VYZKUMNY USTAV ZDRAVOTNICKE TECHNIKY 9 Nov 1970 [11 Nov 1969] 53161/70 Heading H2E The electric motor 1 in a dental drill is coupled to a flexible supply hose 5 by inserting a cylindrical first extension member 7 into a cylindrical second extension member 32, the first member being free to rotate inside the other while electrical contact is maintained through a slip ring 13. Relative axial movement of the members is prevented by confining a radial pin 24 on the inner member in a circumferential groove 25 in the outer member. Raising the end of a spring biased lever 3 allows the pin to be withdrawn through the gap. Electrical leads 17 are connected to spring biased pins 16, one being axial and the other offset to engage the axial contact 12 and the slip ring 13 in the motormember 30. Pipes 33 carry air and water into a mixing chamber 22 and hence to an external pipe 23, and other ducts (18, Fig. 3, not shown) carry compressed air through the space 19 and holes 20 to cool the electric motor.
