Abstract

1,034,303. Tunnels. SPUN CONCRETE Ltd. May 10, 1965 [March 3, 1964, Sept. 3, 1964 (2)], Nos. 8895/64, 36186/64 and 36185/64. Heading E1F. A tunnel or shaft lining comprising pre-cast concrete ring 2 placed end to end has pins 3 secured to one ring and projecting into a socket 4 in an adjacent ring, the arrangement allowing relative axial movement of the rings but preventing relative radial displacement of the rings. Synthetic rubber seals 8, 15, 11 are placed between the rings, the seal 11 being provided with a valve to prevent entry of water. In modifications having single seals the seals have channel and circular cross sections. The sockets are elongated to permit relative circumferential movement of the rings.
