Abstract

1389297 Seals TELEFLEX Ltd 9 Feb 1973 [24 April 1972] 18896/72 Heading F2B A seal, e.g. for a slidable cable or rod 1 comprises axially spaced sealing portions 8, 9 and a back-up portion 7 for preventing localized deflection of the sealing portions 8, 9. A sleeve portion 4 of the seal is engageable with an end portion 2 of a casing, the portion 4 including a rib 5 or sawtooth profile (4b), Fig. 2 (not shown), for engaging a complementary profile of the casing 2. The back-up portion 7 may be surrounded by a metal reinforcing ring (14), Fig. 3 (not shown).
