Abstract

558,422. Centrifugal air cleaners STURTEVANT ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and STEDMAN, N. S. April 22, 1942, No. 5405. [Class 23] [Also in Group XXVI] Fan blades 1 are carried on a conical back-plate 8 which runs in an aperture in a partition 9. Air to be cleaned is drawn in by the fan through the eye 13, the cleaned air is delivered to the volute 2 and the separated dust-laden air is delivered to the chamber 3. From the chamber 3, it passes to a cyclone separator and the cleaned air from the cyclone is returned to the inlet of the fan. The degree of separation is varied by an axial adjustment of the rotating parts relative to the partition 9. The eye 13 has an adjustable sleeve 6 which is moved when the rotor is adjusted to keep the eye in proper relation to the rotor.
