Abstract

The apparatus is suitable in particular for purifying fibre-fly-containing air in textile machine rooms. The air is extracted by a fan and the fibre fly contained in the suction stream is separated off on a screen (8). The screen (8) rotates together with the impeller (2) of the fan, as a result of which the fibre fly separated off there is ejected sideways into collector chambers. The screen (8) covers the suction opening of a suction funnel (7). This suction funnel (7) is arranged on the impeller (2). Between the impeller (2) and a housing partition surrounding the impeller (2) is a gap (10). In order that no fibre-fly-laden air is sucked in through this gap, the space behind the gap (10) is the pressure chamber (4) of the fan.
