[Class 112] [Also in Group XXXIV] The vertical shaft 27, Fig. 1, of a rotary looptaker 21 has a central bore 53 the upper part of which is filled with a wick 59. The wick ends in a cavity 49 from which oil ducts 51, 52 lead to the race 22. When the machine is running oil is lifted up to the wick by pumping means carried at the lower end of the shaft. This may be a helix 54 cut on the shaft running in a cup 58 in the floor of an oil reservoir 56. In another form, a ratchet-toothed sleeve 66 rotates in a recess 61 which has an eccentric portion 62 from which oil is driven into a passage 67, past a regulating screw 71 and into a stationary tube 70 which projects, with external clearance, into the central bore of the shaft 63. In a third form, a vaned wheel 84, Fig. 5, is carried by the shaft in a chamber 74 below the oil reservoir.
