[Class 112] [Also in Group 11 The rotary hook shaft 17 and the spool-case race 40 are lubricated by oil supplied from a centrifugal pump to a cavity 22. Hence, the oil passes to a passage 26, regulated by a screw 27, and an annular cavity 28 around the shaft 17. The oil passes also into a central cavity 30 in the shaft, through a filter 34, bores 39 to a slightly conical surface 41 and so to the race 40. The boss of the rotary hook is formed with an oil throwing surface 46. The filter is a detachable cartridge comprising fibrous material held together by a core of two twisted wires enclosed in a tube 33. The tube is carried by a sleeve 32 screwed into the end of the shaft.
