Abstract

557,977. Agricultural implements. TRACTORS (LONDON), Ltd., and CRAWFORD, D. June 5, 1942, No. 7703. [Class 6 (i)] Cultivators or the like 5 carried by a frame 3 pivoted to a tractor are raised by depressing a strut into engagement with the soil. The strut is pivoted to the frame 3 and is in two parts 9, 10 connected by a knee-joint and constrained to the straightened position by a spring 15. It is lowered by a handle 13a secured to a ratchet sector 13 integral with the sleeve to which the strut is attached. A second handle 22 has an extension forming a guide lip 26, against which the strut 9 presses on being lowered, and a bridge 25 which passes under the upper end of the strut sleeve 8. At the same time the spring 23 pulls the handle 22 back retaining the bridge 25 under the sleeve and engaging a locking pawl 21 with the sector 13. As the strut passes the vertical position, it bends at the point 11 ; the spring 15 rapidly raises it and after rebound from a frame stop 28, restores it to the rectilinear condition. From the raised position the frame 3 and associated tools are released by moving the lever 22.
