Abstract
766,042. Earth-working apparatus. FERGUSON, INC., H. Aug. 25, 1952 [Aug. 23, 1951], No: 3986/54. Divided out of 766,041. Class 68 (1). [Also in Group X] An earth-working unit 18 is so secured to a frame 15 as to permit of angular adjustment of the unit about an axis 52 to a number of defined positions, and is rigidly held in any chosen one of said positions by a detent unit of which a spring-biased plunger 69 is slidably mounted on the frame 15 to normally engage a toothed plate 62 secured on the unit 18 and in which the complementary, partially engaging surfaces of the plunger and plate are tapered so as to be self-compensating for wear. A manually actuated linkage disposed within the hollow frame 15 is provided to disengage the plunger 69 from the plate 62. This linkage forms the subject matter of Specification 766,041, which is referred to. The earthworking unit consists of a scraper blade and a set of scarifiers 50 secured together in a back-to-back relationship, the blade and the scarifiers each being only operable when facing in a forward direction. The frame 15 is secured to a power-actuated lift linkage of a tractor T.
