[Class 135] A valve device particularly adapted for insertion in a conduit through which compressed air is supplied to and from a chuck or jig holding a work piece in cutting operations comprises a loose-ball valve held against complete closure by a screwed spindle d. The loose-ball g co-operates with a seat consisting of a tapered bore f of small angle and of a length considerably greater than the diameter of the ball. The ball is retained in its seating by an apertured plate h screwed into the inlet b.
