A method of manufacturing a seating 30 in a cylindrical " shut-off " member 34 for a fluid-pressure cock consists in generating the seating by a hollow cylindrical milling-cutter 20 which is moved laterally so that the ends of its teeth move in a plane 22 parallel to the axis 24, and intersecting the circumference, of the cockbody whilst the member 34 rolls without slip on the plane 22. The seating receives a circular sealing washer 4. The milling-cutter may have conical cutting-edges.
