Abstract
818,965. Valves. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO. Ltd., SLEE, P. V., and WALLIS, S. W. J. May 28, 1957 [July 2, 1956], No. 20414/56. Class 135. Apparatus relating one fluid flow to another comprises a first tube 1 containing a first member 4 positioned along the tube by a first fluid flow therein and a second tube 2 containing a second member 8 and means constraining the second member to take up a predetermined position in relation to the position of the first member, the second tube containing a coaxial spindle of such shape that the second fluid flow through the space between the spindle and second member depends on the position of the latter with respect to the spindle. Flow in tapered tube 1 is from 6 to 7, and a magnet 5 on member 4 acts on the magnetizable material of the member 8 to control flow in tube 2 from 9 to 10, the member 8 being an annulus moving around a tapered spindle 3. Spindle 3 is adjustable at 16 or may be replaced by differently shaped spindles. The flow may be reversed or flow in 2 control flow in 1. Specification 797,439, [Group XII], is referred to.
