Abstract

The shut-off valves has a body (1) with inlet (5) and outlet (8) connected by a vertical aperture (6) surrounded by the valve seat (1a). The cone shaped valve head (4) is screwed into a nut (18) which is attached to the spindle (3) by a split ring (17) fitting in a groove (3b). The bore (7) in the valve body has six equally spaced longitudinal grooves which grip the corners of the nut (18). These grooves prevent the valve head (4) rotating when it is screwed down on to its seat (1a). This reduces wear of both valve head (4) and seat (1a).
