557,726. Control of two motors. IGRANIC ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. June 9, 1942, No. 7871. Convention date, June 16, 1941. [Class 38 (iii)] A motor drive, e.g. for opening and closing the jaws of a chuck 40 comprises two induction. motors M1, M2 on the same shaft, a controller B for selecting whether the torques of the motors shall be opposed or cumulative, a controller C for varying the speed-torque characteristic of the motor M2, and a controller A for selecting the direction of motion of the drive. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the controller A in the "open" position cuts out the controllers B and C and directly connects the motor M2 to aid fully the motor M1. The motors may have similar or dissimilar speed-torque characteristics and similar or dissimilar synchronous speeds.
