Speed-maintaining systems. - To maintain equality of speed between motors M', M<2> driving separate shafts, alternating currents tapped off from the windings of the two motors by means of slip-rings c<1>, c<2> are fed into the stator and rotor respectively of a three-phase torque movement device a. No movement is produced while the frequencies in the stator and rotor are equal; if these become unequal owing to inequality of speed between the motors the device moves a rheostat arm d which alters the field excitation of one motor in a compensatory direction.
