Abstract

557,541. Resistances; wireless receiving apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., WOLFSON, H., and SHEPARD, S. C. May 22, 1942, No. 7001. [Class 37] [Also in Group XL] A thermistor has its element assembled in an elongated glass bulb with lead - out conductors arranged in a straight line to form a dipole antenna, the length of the conductor being adjusted in accordance with the wave-lengths of the incoming u.f.h. waves to be measured or detected. The lead 1 and the fine wires 7, 8 may be arranged as in Specification 545,679, the wires being welded to lead-out conductors 3, 4 which are sealed through corresponding presses 5, 6 in the ends of the limb 2. Where a coil for indirectly heating the element is provided, the leadout conductors for the coil provide the antenna, the lead-out conductors for the element itself being given a side extension of the bulb, Fig. 2 (not shown). Numerical data are given in the Specification, which refers also to Specifications 540,844, 541,922 and 551,485, [both in Group XI].
