Abstract
626,920. Temperature-variable resistances. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., WOLFSON, H., and SHEPARD, S. C. Jan. 29, 1947, No. 2821. [Class 37] A thermistor type bolometer for particular use in infra-red spectroscopy consists of two thermistor elements mounted end-to-end inside a glass tube. Each of the elements consists of an insulated, thin metal strip 2 coated with thermistor material 4 along one long and one short edge 3, 5, with two electrodes of silver paste 6, 7 extending over part of the face of the strip. The two elements are cemented end-to-end to a flattened glass tube 15 and sealed at both ends, with platinum leads 9, 10, 11 and 12, extending from the electrodes through the base of the glass envelope 15. A window 17 is cut in the glass tube opposite the elements, and may be covered by a sheet of material transparent to infra-red rays, such as silver chloride. The unit may be mounted inside a metal tube. Specifications 618,966; 625,080, [Group III], and 626,915 are referred to.
