Abstract

556,822. Conveyers. KEEN, C. P. April 21, 1942, No. 5290. [Class 78 (i)] A device for conveying or elevating parcels &c. comprises an endless chain 1 furnished along its centre line with vertical rollers 3 and horizontal rollers 4 moving in a fixed channel. Projecting upward at intervals from the chain are a plurality of pushers 7 which slide the parcels over a run of horizontal rollers arranged on each side of the channel track. Delivery and reception stations may be provided for the parcels, the predetermined automatic operation of which is effected by cams 9 adjustable on a vertical rod 8 depending from the chain beneath each pusher 7, and furnished with an upper operating roller 10 and a lower guide roller 11. The cams 9 strike operating triggers adjustable on a graduated shaft and in permanent engagement with pins projecting from an upright spring-loaded locking spindle. This spindle transmits motion when in engagement with a coupled collar, lever, and cam, but discontinues transmission when in engagement with the coupled collar and lever and a nether locking plate. The charging and removing operations are effected by applying brakes to accelerate the peripheral velocity of parcel-carrying rollers mounted on parallel chains at the stations. In a modification the delivery and reception apparatus is pneumatically operated.
