Discharging, throw-off, and feeding devices for endless belt, chain, and rope conveyers and elevators.- In apparatus of the kind in which a succession of articles 3 is carried along a channel between side walls 4, 4a and each is successively delivered through an opening 6 by reciprocating pushers 12. in order to prevent the normal operation of the pushers until the leading article is in the correct position opposite the opening 6, the pushers 12 are pivotally mounted on a reciprocating carriage which is raised above the normal position when the leading article is incorrectly positioned. The carriage runs on a roller 14 on a supporting rail 16 which is carried on an arm 17 of a lever 21 pivoted at 19 and controlled by a cam 24 and spring 23. A second arm 26 on the lever 21 carries a stop piece 27, which determines the position of the supporting rail. A spring pressed bell crank lever 31, 32 is movable by the leading article in the series when in the correct position for delivery so as to interpose a stop 34 between the stop piece 27 and a fixed stop 29 and limit the upward movement of the rail to a position in which the reciprocation of the pushers engages the article. If the leading article is not in the correct end position, the spring 37 withdraws the stop 34 and allows the rail to raise the pushers so that they will pass over the articles in their reciprocating movement.
