379,277. Endless chain conveyers. UNIVERSELLE CIGARETTENMASCHINENFABRIK J. C. MœLLER & CO., 48, Zwickauerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. May 20, 1931, No. 14911. Convention date, Dec. 19, 1930. [Class 78 (i).] Batches of goods, such as cigarettes, are transferred from one moving conveyer to a container on another moving conveyer by a plunger 33, Fig. 3, which, during its working and return stroke, is moved in the same direction and at the same speed as the conveyers, and, at the end of its transverse movement, is returned to its initial position at increased speed. The plunger is slidably mounted on a slide member 21 which can be moved longitudinally in guides 22 by means of a grooved cam 16 an extension 23<1> on the slide carrying a vertical crank shaft provided with a cog wheel 25 to engage a stationary rack 26. The cog wheel 25 is mounted on the vertical shaft 24 as shown in Fig. 4, and during movement of the slide 21 in the same direction as the conveyers it engages and drives the crank shaft 24 and operates the plunger. At the end of the transverse movement however, the cog wheel rotates freely on the supporting shaft and the plunger remains stationary during the accelerated return movement of the slide.
