Abstract

556,746. Bearings. SMITH, R. April 15, 1942, No. 4933. [Class 12 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] A bearing for machine tools comprises a recessed member A with semi-circular ends and a roller chain or chains F, member A being in two or more parts with stepped joint. Interposed springs P maintain the chain tension. The member A has flanges B forming a track C for the rollers and is secured by lugs D having bont holes E. As shown, a planing machine table H has four sets of bearings secured by bolts J within recesses G in the table and is traversed on hardened steel ways L formed in the bed of the machine.
