556,647. Leak-sealing compositions. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E. I. April 13, 1942, No. 4825. Convention date, April 19, 1941. [Class 70] A composition for addition to the liquid in a circulating system such as an automobile cooling system for sealing leaks in the system consists of an aqueous solution or dispersion of an ammonia or organic amine soap of rosin, a filler such as short-fibred asbestos and a dispersing-agent for the filler such as glue, starch, wheat-flour, gelatine, gum arabic or gum tragacanth. Silicic acid or a soluble silicate and cetra-sodium pyrophosphate or trisodium phosphate may be added. The pH of the solution is adjusted to between 10 and 5 by phosphoric or acetic acid. The amines which may be used are mono-, di-, or tri-ethanolamine, ethylene diamine, 2-amino-2-methyl-l-propanol, propylamine, 2-ethylamino-ethanol, morpholine, N-ethyl morpholine, triethylamine and 2- dimethylaminoethanol.
