556,542. Mixing granular &c. materials. NYCANDER, S. H. Nov. 11. 1942, No. 15925. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Jan. 4, 1943.] [Class 86] In mixing lime mortar, cement mortar and like granular material, the material is fed from a hopper 2 into a horizontal or slightly inclined drum 1 partly to fill the latter, and is mixed by two spirally curved bands 15, 16 mounted on a rapidly rotating shaft 7. These bands are arranged in the proximity of the drum casing and have a relatively small radial extension, and their cross-section is essentially rectangular edgewise to the direction in which the material passes through the drum. The shaft 7 is connected to the bands by spokes 17 having a curved connection to the shaft. and parts 18 of these spokes may be set obliquely to vary the speed of feed of the material through the drum. Discharge takes place through an opening 12 closed by a valve 13 controlled by a bell-crank.
