Abstract
556,362. Filters. HARTLEY, C. J. March 16, 1942, No. 3418. [Class 46] [Also in Group II] A rotary drum screen, particularly for sewage, comprises channel or other section metal spokes 12 secured between double hub flange members 11 at their inner ends and having gussets 20 acting as cantilever brackets attached to their outer ends, the screening plates or members 21 being attached to the gussets by means of angle irons 22. Sewage is fed by a channel 31 or a pipe into the front of the drum, which is open except for an annular plate 24 to retain the screenings, the back of the drum being covered by plates 19 which may be perforated. The spokes 12 are formed with lips 23, or carry trays, for conveying the screenings to a fixed shoot 25, the lower end of which extends through the open front of the screen to a discharge pipe 27 or a pit. The shaft 10 may be driven through gearing 13 by an electric motor 33. Wash water is supplied by pipes 28, 29 to the shoot 25 and the outside of the screen. A rotatable cleaning brush may be driven from the shaft 10. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 284,403, [Class 46].
