Abstract

269,333. Southall, J. April 21, 1926. Washing-apparatus with screens.- A rotary washing, sifting, and grading apparatus for gravel, sand, &c., consists of two or more axiallyaligned barrel - sections 1, 2, of cylindrical or, as shown, frusto-conical form, into which the gravel &c. is fed by a hopper 8. Water is supplied by a pipe 9, the hollow axis 11, and openings 10. Openings of graduated diameters are made in the flanges 3, 4, 5, and as the barrel rotates on its axis 11 the material passes from left to right, being assisted in its passage by the angularly-disposed supporting arms 12, by lifting-buckets or vanes 16, 18, and shoots 17, 19. The shoots 19 discharge it to a rotating screen 20, made in three grading- sections 22, 23, 24, mounted on the barrel 1, 2 by means of arms 21, like the arms 12, and is kept clean by rollers 30 on rocking arms 31. Dirty water passes away by a pipe 29 and at the point 33. A sprayer-pipe 36 may be fitted in the screen. Radial scoops 37, as described in Specification 252,597, may also be fitted.
