Abstract
348,558. Drying and cooling cattle food &c. DRYDEN, W., Grimshaw Street Foundry, Preston, Lancashire. Dec. 12, 1929, No. 38073. [Classes 29 and 34 (ii).] In apparatus for drying or cooling cattle cake &c. the material is fed over a fixed or rotating perforated cone B from the edges of which it falls on to a perforated inverted cone C over which the material is fed to a central outlet O by means of a spiral conveyer D rotated by a shaft K. Air is drawn into the casing A at T and exhausted at S, passing upwards transversely through the material. The conical spiral conveyer D is carried by a frame q<2> on the shaft K which shaft is divided from a shaft P by bevel gearing housed in a casing H within the cone B. Dust passing through the cone C is swept by rotary inclined scrapers E to a separate outlet F. The conveyer D may be stationary, the cone C being made to rotate. In a modification the shaft K is driven by worm gearing. A conical spiral conveyer may be arranged on the cone B. The direction of flow of the air may be reversed, and auxiliary air may be supplied through the radial casings G carrying the gear-box. The main axis may be inclined.
