292,542. Fehrentheil und Gruppenberg, H. von, and Oranienburger Eiswerke J. Schmidt. June 21, 1927, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Helical-blade conveyers.-Potatoes, rape, corn &c. to be dried are traversed through a series of troughs, embedded in masonry having flues 4, 13, Fig. 3, for the passage of furnace gases, by helical blades 7, the shafts of which carry pins 14, Fig. 4, for breaking up agglomerated masses. Perforate plates 16 may also be provided in the troughs. The material is fed through a hopper 10 into the first trough and discharged laterally into successive troughs by rotary arms 11 mounted on the helical-blade shafts. The air above the troughs may be agitated by vanes mounted upon an horizontal rotary shaft which may be hollow and perforated and supplied with air.
