Abstract
555,666. Fire control for automatic guns. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and TREVASKIS, H. June 5, 1940, No. 9830. [Class 92 (ii)] Relates to means for controlling the fire of a plurality of automatic guns particularly on aircraft in which air pressure means 5, 9 is employed for firing and cocking each of the guns the means being controlled from a remote point. According to the invention, the means at each gun are connected to a self-contained multiple control unit 17 containing the control valves which are connected by pipes to unions 30, 35 for the pipe lines leading to the guns. Air pressure is admitted to the unit from a reservoir 19. Levers 21 control cocking valve devices as in Specification 553,941, and turn-buttons 23 control valves for firing by an electromagnetically-controlled device as in Specification 555,259. Figs. 3 and 8 show the internal construction of the unit 17. The cocking valves 20 are connected to the air pressure inlet pipe 25 by branches 27, and the firing valves 22 are operated by the turn-buttons 23 through sleeves and lead to a valve 31 actuated by a distantly controlled solenoid.
