Abstract
560,207. Fluid pressure servomotor control systems. DE HAVILLAND AIRCRAFT CO., Ltd., MOULT, E. S., GILLMORE, K. B., WARDE, R. H., and DOVE, E. B. Sept. 29, 1942, No. 13684. [Class 135] Means for controlling the pitch of an airscrew comprises a jack 13, Fig. 1, operated for the normal range of control from a pump 10 and governor-controlled unit 11, and operated outside the normal range from a variabledelivery pump 23 of the kind which maintains a predetermined output pressure, a valve 22 being provided which is operable to connect the pump 23 to the jack whilst connecting the flow from the pump 10 to exhaust. The inlet to the pump 23 may be boosted by a supplementary pump, or a pressure accumulator may be incorporated in the outlet therefrom. The valve 22 is manually operated mechanically or electrically through push-button control, and may be slidable as shown in Fig. 3 or constituted by a plurality of poppet or flap valves.
