Abstract
555,660. Drying grain. KENNEDY, D. S., and NEWMAN, J. E. May 11, 1942, Nos. 6345 and 11400. [Class 34 (ii)] In apparatus of the kind described in Specification 523,391, wet grain is elevated through a duct d<2> by a hot-air blast from a fan c and is delivered through an expanding inlet d<3> into a hopper b above the drying passages a‹ through which the grain falls, while the lighter material is carried forward into a duct e and the hot air is deflected across the descending grain through the perforated walls of a passage f The fan is partitioned to deliver a separate current of hot air through a duct h into a passage f<2> and through the grain below the zone of the passagef and to deliver a current of cold air into a bottom passage f<3> for cooling the grain. The grain is delivered on to a table from which it is pushed into a sacking hopper m<2> by reciprocating bars m operated as described in Specification 546,352, [Group XXX].
