554,290. Extracting metals. AMERICAN CYANAMID CO. Aug. 5, 1942, No. 10950. Convention date, Aug. 15, 1941. [Class 82 (i)] The precipitation of undesired salts in cyanide processes is prevented by incorporating in the solution a small amount of a soluble metaphosphate or polyphosphate, which may be a hexametaphosphate, or a pyrophosphate, or a salt of sodium, potassium, ammonium, or an organic base. The presence of the required phosphate in the solution may be ensured by the addition of metaphosphoric acid.
