Abstract
309,516. Imray, O. Y., (I. G. Fcti,benii7-- dustrie Akt.-Ges.). Jan. 6, 1928. Addition to 282,450. 2-Aminonaphthalene-3-carboxylic acid is obtained by heating 2-hydroxynaphthalene-3-carboxylic acid or a salt thereof with ammonia under pressure and a nickelous or cobaltous salt, and decomposing the resulting complex metallic compound to liberate the acid. The same complex compounds may also be obtained by heating 2- aminonaphthalene-3-carboxylic acid or a salt thereof with ammonia under pressure and a nickelous or cobaltous salt. The complex iron compound of the parent Specification may be obtained by heating 2-aminonaphthalene-3-carboxylic acid or a salt thereof with ammonia under pressure and a ferrous salt, or by heating 2-hydroxy- or 2-amino-naphthalene-3-carboxylic acid or salts thereof with ammonia under pressure and metallic iron in presence of a soluble salt having ions which attack iron, e.g. sodium chloride and ammonium chloride, carbonate or sulphate. In the latter operation the use of iron autoclaves should be avoided. Examples are given.
