Abstract

553,969. Files. LUCAS, Ltd., J., and SILMAN, H. Dec. 9, 1941, No. 15882. [Class 61 (ii)] Worn files are renovated after cleaning by successive immersion in sulphuric acid, nitric acid and sulphuric acid with intermediate washings. The preliminary cleaning is effected with any solvent degreaser followed by dipping or electrolytic treatment in an alkaline bath such as hot caustic soda. The first sulphuric acid bath may contain an inhibitor such as that sold under the Registered Trade Mark "Hibitate" to retard the corrosive action on the file. The file may be treated finally in a phosphoric acid bath.
