Abstract
553,801. Transformers ; reactors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 15, 1941, No. 16137. Convention date, Dec. 18, 1940. [Class 38 (ii)] A polyphase transformer or reactor has its core structure built up from a number of wound strip elements 14, 15, 16 equal in number to the number of phase windings 11, 12, 13 each core element linking a different pair of windings. The smaller elements 15, 16 may be spaced apart as shown to provide a ventilating duct 24 and to prevent cross-over of flux. The reluctance of the different flux paths may be equalized by making cuts in the strip during assembly, a larger number of cuts 33 being made in the smaller elements, and a smaller number of cuts 34 being made in the larger element 14.
