Abstract

553,628. Mixing &c. appliances. KNAPP & BATES, Ltd., and BATES, W. R. May 2, 1942, No. 5935. [Class 86] An apparatus for mixing liquid and solid material, or two liquids, but particularly for use in ore flotation processes using ore pulps, comprises a tank 1 having disposed within it a vertical chamber 2 of rectangular cross-section provided with inlets 3 and with a restricted lower end formed in a casting 4 immediately below which is arranged an impeller 6 driven at high speed from a main shaft 7 by rope &c. gearing 8, 9. One side of the chamber 2 is cut away at 11, the opening being masked by a weir formed of wooden slats slid into a frame 13 and held in place by a weight. The tank 1 is provided with an overflow 14 and a wear plate 10.
