Abstract

553,287. Mops and brushes. MELTZ, M. April 16, 1942, No. 5080. [Class 19] In a combined floor brush and mop, an inner sleeve 11 is slidably mounted on the handle 11 and carries brackets 17 to which are pivoted at 16 jaws 15, upward extensions of which are pivotally connected by pairs of toggle links 18 to brackets carried by an outer sleeve 12 mounted to slide over the inner sleeve 11. A mop 23 is fixed to the lower end of the handle 10, and a floor brush 21 is pivotally mounted at 22 on one of the jaws 15. When the brush is in operative position, the mop is enclosed in the jaws 15, and can be wrung out by turning the handle 10. The mop may be replaced by a pad of flannel.
