Abstract
553,114. Sodium sulphate. OCEAN SALTS (PRODUCTS), Ltd., and ADAMS, B. A. Jan. 9, 1942, No. 341. [Class 1 (ii)] Sodium sulphate is obtained from liquids containing sodium ions, such as sea water and brine, by contacting the liquid with a cation exchange material capable of adsorbing sodium ions, e.g. a phenol sulphonate condensation product, and then contacting this material with a liquid containing sulphate ions to produce an effluent solution of sodium sulphate. Suitable sulphate ion solutions for the latter step are magnesium, ammonium or calcium sulphates or sulphuric acid.
