Abstract
535,852. Magnesium hydroxide. OCEAN SALTS (PRODUCTS), Ltd., and ADAMS, B. A. Sept. 20, 1939, No. 26248. [Class 1 (iii)] Sea water, brine &c, is treated with sodium or magnesium carbonate and a small quantity of hydroxide ions to remove calcium and bicarbonate ions together with suspended or colloidal iron, aluminium, and silicon compounds. Magnesium hydroxide is then obtained by precipitating the purified liquid with a hydroxide solution free from the impurities referred to. Specification 533,509 is referred to.
