535,854. Alkali bicarbonates, carbonates and hydroxides. OCEAN SALTS (PRODUCTS), Ltd., and ADAMS, B. A. Sept. 20, 1939, No. 26250. [Class 1 (ii)] Solutions of alkali bicarbonate, carbonate, or hydroxide are obtained by treating with magnesium carbonate, bi-carbonate, or basic carbonate solutions an organic cation exchange material, e.g. that described in Specification 450,308 which has previously been treated with sea water or the like. The carbonate and bicarbonate solutions may be converted into hydroxide by known methods. The magnesium ions may be recovered by contacting the cation exchange material with sea water &c. and precipating magnesium hydroxide from the resulting solution. Specification 535,852 is referred to
