Abstract

1396235 L-dopa MEDICA AB OY 12 July 1973 [14 July 1972] 33234/73 Heading C2C A process for the isolation of 3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-L-alanine (L-dopa) from an aqueous solution wherein the L-dopa is extracted from the solution with the aid of liquid ion exchanger which consists of a sulphonic acid dissolved in an organic solvent and to which the L-dopa is bound in the form of a sulphonic acid salt, from which salt it is liberated by neutralization with a base that precipitates L-dopa, whereafter the precipitate is separated from the solution, which is then regenerated by washing with a mineral acid solution, and the sulphonic acid solution obtained is used again for binding L-dopa.
