Abstract

552,106. Stretchers. KOLLER, E. May 30, 1942, No. 7352. [Class 108 (i)] [Also in Group XXV] Carrying handles 5 are mounted on the longitudinal members 3 so as to be pivotable vertically as well as horizontally. Bearing pins 7 extend downwardly from the end parts of members 3 into revoluble sockets 9 carrying horizontal pivots 10 on which are mounted flanged plates 11 attached to the handles 5. Inter-engaging edges of pivots 10 and flanged plates 11 are held engaged by nuts 12 to lock against rotation about the pivots 10. Rotation about bearing pins 7 is controlled by spring securing bolt 14 shown in locking position in horizontal section in Fig. 5. A cap 16 is provided for withdrawing the inner end of bolt 14 either completely from its locking engagement with a bore 15 in the pin 7 or only partially so as to allow a limited movement, the reduced part 14a them being the only part within the bore 15. A spring catch is provided for locking knuckle-joints in cross-ties connecting longitudinal members 3. In Fig. 7 jointed parts 3a, 3b are shown as connected by plates 21 and 24 and a stud 22 and set-screw 23, the latter engaging in either of notches 26 to allow of inclination between the parts.
