Abstract

551,699. Steam desuperheaters. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd., and SPARKS, C. H. Sept. 2, 1941, No. 11222. [Class 55 (ii)] In a desuperheater consisting of a length 1 of steam pipe containing spray nozzles 9, a tubular screen 12 of relatively thin metal extends over the inner surface of the pipe and over the end joints 2, 3 to prevent injury to the pipe by impingement of the cold spray and leakage at the joints. The screen is secured at one end and is freely supported at the other end to allow longitudinal expansion and contraction.
