Abstract
551,465. Multi-ply paper bags &c. ROBINSON, F. G., and PAPER SACKS, Ltd. July 22, 1941, No. 9255. [Class 94 (ii)] In a block-bottom closure for a multi-ply paper bag or sack with stepped headings, as described in Specifications 343,447 and 443,950, the front heading of the tube is first folded into the plane of the sack, causing the corners to fold inwardly and form the triangular side flaps 5. The folded front is then refolded on itself at the line 3a upwardly and inwardly into the position shown at 6, while at the ends the headings are folded at right angles to the transverse folds of the tube along the line 6a and tucked under the inward sides of the lower corners of the flaps 5. The closure may be secured by adhesive applied to the headings before folding. In Fig. 4 the beginning of the final closing operation is shown. The back heading 6b is folded on the line 3b on to the front; and at its ends is folded on the crease 5b, so that this crease makes an angle of about 65 degrees with the folds of the closure that lie transversely of the sack. This angle enables the folded corner 5d to cover the underlying step of the front heading.
