Abstract
1,131,028. Cartons. REYNOLDS METALS CO. 24 Jan., 1966, No. 3156/66. Heading B8P. A carton with end flaps has corner gussets formed by sheet material which is secured to adjacent flaps at locations spaced inwardly from the side edges of the flaps, and extends across the gap between the flaps when these are folded outwardly to receive a sealing membrane (44, Fig. 4, not shown). Fig. 1 shows a blank 10 with a liner 26 made of stretchable material such as polythene, the liner being unattached to the closure flaps at the areas 34. In modifications the gusset forming material does not form a complete liner but is in the form of strip around the fold lines of the closure flaps, Fig. 9 (not shown), or along the corners between the walls, Fig. 7 (not shown). In the latter embodiment the strips may comprise folds, Fig. 6 (not shown) so that the width of the material accommodates the extension of the material by the flaps with little or no stretching.
